Inspiring and motivational articles to help you getontrack.
We have taller buildings but shorter tempers; wider freeways but narrower viewpoints; we spend more but have less; we buy more but enjoy it less; we have bigger houses and smaller families; more conveniences, yet less time; we have more degrees but less sense; more knowledge but less judgment; more experts, yet more problems; we have more gadgets but less satisfaction; more medicine, yet less wellness; we take more vitamins but see fewer results. We drink too much; smoke too much; spend too recklessly; laugh too little; drive too fast; get too angry quickly; stay up too late; get up too tired; read too seldom; watch TV too much and pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values; we fly in faster planes to arrive there quicker, to do less and return sooner; we sign more contracts only to realize fewer profits; we talk too much; love too seldom and lie too often. We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life; we’ve added years to life, not life to years.

I love a success story, but even more than a success story; I like a dude who f***s his life up and gets his life together again story. – Joe Rogan
You’re going to pay a price for every bloody thing you do and everything you don’t do. You don’t get to choose to not pay a price. You get to choose which poison you’re going to take. That’s it. – Jordan Peterson
The last three or four reps is what makes the muscle grow. This area of pain divides the champion from someone else who is not a champion. That’s what most people lack, having the guts to go on and just say they’ll go through the pain no matter what happens. – Arnold Schwarzenegger
GeOT select story – against all odds to getontrack
Privilege leaves us blind to how difficult things are for those who aren’t as fortunate as we are. But it’s people like Sreenath, who push the boundaries and set a yardstick to achieve the impossible.
Sreenath K is a coolie at Ernakulam Junction in Kerala for the past five years. He has cleared the written test of the Kerala Public Service Commission, with pure hard work and determination. With limited resources and access to study material, Sreenath took advantage of the free WiFi Internet service available at Ernakulam station to study.
According to reports, he used to deftly balance the luggage on his shoulders and while listening to his digital coursework at the same time – his teachers speaking to him through the earphones.
A high school pass-out, Sreenath says, “I have appeared thrice for the exam and this is the first time I used the WiFi at the station. What I do is put on my earphones and listen to the study material as I carry the luggage or solve questionnaires in my mind. This way I can study while I work. I revise all my work at night when I get free time.”
He said the free WiFi service at the station opened up opportunities for him he never thought were available in the first place – practice question papers downloadable at a speed of 20-40 Mbps, easy access to online examination forms, and above everything else, he saves money on books.
If he qualifies for KPSC after an interview, he is likely to be a village field assistant under the land revenue department.
He has also applied for exams advertised recently by the railways for 62,000 Group D posts of Trackman, cabin man, leverman, pointsman, and others.
“What is my ideal job? A person of some authority to change things in my village maybe,” he said.
So, stop cribbing and taking things for granted, there are people who have it way worse, but are still trudging along with grit and determination. Sreenath is an inspiration to thousands out there who are fighting for their dreams.
